Tallarida Vineyard & Winery

A boutique vineyard of 25 acres, the Tallarida Vineyard is situated on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, in the lush soil of the Boneo plains. The property has a history of producing benchmark and award-winning Chardonnay, and in recent years, has moved into Pinot Noir. Varieties also include Pinot Grigio, Merlot and Cabernet, from which a variety of wine styles are made.

The Tallarida Winery processes grapes from the property, as well as other local vineyards.

Rocco Domenico Tallarida purchased the property and farmhouse in the mid 1980s, with the view to indulge in his passion for making wine.

The Vineyard and Winery is now managed by Rocco’s family, including his children and grandchildren (with the great grandkids also running around), who are all driven in honouring Rocco’s memory through realising his vision for the property, and passion for wine.

Tallarida Family & Winemaking

The Tallarida family has been involved in Australia’s wine industry for over 40 years.

In the late 1960s, Tallarida Engineering at 379 Victoria Street Brunswick, was a hive of activity, with many of Victoria’s key infrastructure and iconic buildings (including the City Loop, Rialto Towers, National Gallery of Victoria and runways at Melbourne Airport) having an element of their form structure designed and engineered by Rocco and his team.

As a side project, and in response to many migrant families wanting to continue their culture by making wine at home, Rocco Tallarida designed and manufactured domestic scale wine presses. Over 60,000 wine presses were sold throughout the 60s, 70s and 80s, making their way into many Melbourne backyards and small businesses.

In the 1990s, Tallarida Engineering expanded their business to import all elements of wine equipment from Italy’s top manufacturers. This equipment can be found in most wineries across Victoria, NSW and South Australia.
